Spicy Minced Meat Rolls Cevapcici Recipe

They are usually served of 5-10 pieces on a plate or in a flatbread (lepinje or somun), often with chopped onions, sour cream, kajmak, ajvar, cottage cheese, minced red pepper and salt. Bosnian ćevapi are made from two types of minced beef meat, hand mixed and formed with a funnel, while formed ćevapi are grilled. Serb ćevapčići are made of either beef, lamb or pork or mixed. Macedonian, Croatian, Bulgarian and Romanian varieties are often made of both pork and beef.

Ingredients

  • 1.5lb Ground Beef
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
  • 3 heaped tablespoons Chopped Parsley
  • 0.5lb Ground Lamb
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Minced Garlic or Garlic Powder

Directions

Step 1
Put all of the ingredients into a large mixing bowl and knead well to bind the meats and spices together.
Step 2
Refrigerate for about 2 hours and then take out and knead well again.Shape into finger-length shapes (just like small sausages) and cook on a grill or in a broiler over a moderate temperature so that they stay juicy. Turn only once and do not pierce.
Step 3
Serve in warmed or grilled Greek-style pita bread on a bed of onions. Also good with kajmak or sour cream, fresh peppers, ajvar and tomatoes.
