Barcelona El Prat Airport Guide

Barcelona Arport El PratBarcelona Airport is 12 kilometers southwest of the Catalan capital. It is the second busiest airport in Spain, only Madrid is busier. Barcelona processes more than 24 million passengers per year. In popular speech it is called ‘L’Aeroport del Prat’.

The airport has three terminals: A (international flights), B (domestic flights) and C (primarily for private and shuttle flights). The terminals are connected by walkways.

Local transport
Train
The airport has excellent rail connections with Barcelona via the RENFE train line. Cercanís Train Station is accessible via the walkway between Terminals A and B. Trains leave every half hour and stop by the stations Sants-Estaçio, travel time is 17 minutes, Plaça de Catalunya, 23 minutes, Arc de Triomf, 26 minutes and Clot-Arago, 30 minutes. A ticket for these destinations cost €2.30, and there is a connection to the subway at each station.

Currently there is work being done on a new fast train connection with Barcelona.

Car and bus
The airport is accessible from the ring road around Barcelona, exit Pata Sur, the airport is on the way to Castelldefels (C-31), exit on the highway Barcelona-Sitges (C-32).

The Aerobús A1 leaves every 15 minutes from each terminal to the center of Barcelona (Plaça de Catalunya), a ticket costs €3.60 and this service is managed by Transports Ciutat Comtal-TCC (tel: +34(0)934 156 020). You can find further information on the website for Aerobús (in the options menu scroll all the way down and click on Aerobús).

In Terminals B and C there are also two bus lines that leave Barcelona to other destinations, one bus goes to Figueres, Girona, Lleida, Reus and Tarragona, the other bus goes to Castelldefels, Ribes, Sitges, Rocamar, Roquetes, Vilanova, Cubelles, Cunit, Segur, Calafell and El Vendrell.

Between 22:55 and 4:11 there is a night bus, number 106, to Barcelona.

Car rental – Barcelona Airport
In Terminals B and C on the ground floor you can find counters for car rental companies such as: Avis, Atesa, Alamo, Europcar and Hertz.

Taxi
There are taxi stands at every terminal, the cost for a ride to Plaça d’España in Barcelona is approximately €15.00, and the cost to Sagrada Familia is €21.00. Prices during nights and weekends are a little bit higher, the trip time is about half an hour.

Airport Parking
There is a covered parking garage in Terminal C, this is connected to the terminal by a walkway, this is also the case for open-air parking for terminal A. Other open air parking places are by Terminal B. Barcelona has a total of 13,000 parking spaces, and 2,500 are covered.

Shops and restaurants

Barcelona Airport provides a vast amount of shops and restaurants. There are Duty Free shops in Terminals A and B, as well as a large number of other shops.

Baggage

You can leave baggage in the Arrivals Hall in terminal B. Found items can be picked up in the Bloque Técnico building (tel: +34(0)932 983 349).

Information

There are six general information counters in Terminals A and B and two counters especially for tourists. The tourist counters are also accessible by telephone (tel: +34(0)934 784 704) or (tel: +34(0)934 780 565). You can reserve hotel rooms at the counter in Terminal B.

Business

In Terminal B, there are meeting facilities with a total space of 200 m², which can be split into two rooms of 100 m². The rooms have telephone, fax, internet connection, and audiovisual equipment. For reservations (tel: +34(0)932 983 815).

VIP lounges are present in all terminals after Customs control.

There is also a special VIP parking place, you can leave your car behind at the entrance of one of the terminals and a driver will pick up the car and park it.

Disabled facilities

Barcelona Airport has excellent accessibility for the disabled. There are elevators, moving walkways, wheelchair ramps and accessible bathrooms. Parking spaces are available close to the terminals where there are special large parking places reserved for the disabled.

Other services

In Terminals A and B there are banks, money exchange offices, and ATM’s. There is a 24 hour medical service, and there are play areas for children. You can find the police in Terminal A (tel: +34(0)932 971 219). The airport has 26 Wi-Fi points for wireless internet, which are clearly indicated by red signs. There is an exposition space in Terminal C where various exhibitions are held.

Alicante Airport Guide

Alicante AirportAlicante Airport is nine kilometers southwest of Alicante on the east coast of Spain. It is the entrance gateway to Costa Blanca, an important tourist destination. The airport processes a majority of international flights. In 2004, 8.5 million passengers traveled through Alicante Airport.

The airport was recently opened, it was opened in 1967, still then under the name ‘El Altet’. The new airport replaced the old airport ‘La Rabassa’. Since the opening the airport has been regularly expanded, the last large renovation was in 1996.

Local Transport

Train

Alicante Airport has no train connection.

Car and bus

From Alicante, the airport is accessible via the highway (Autovia) Alicante-Murcia, the N-332 also goes to the airport. From Benidorm you take highway (Autopista) A-7. The exit to the airport is clearly indicated on each road.

You see many buses at Alicante Airport, but nearly all of them are rented buses. The only bus line (C-6) to Alicante has a stop in front of the Arrivals Hall and leaves every 40 minutes, at least according to the schedule. A bus ride to the center of Alicante takes 40 minutes and costs €1.00. There are also bus services to Benidorm and Murcia at the same bus stop, but these leave less frequently.

Taxi

Taxis go much faster to Alicante (15-20 minutes).

Car Rental

There are many car rental companies operating at Alicante Airport: Avis, Atesa, Auriga, Centauro, Europcar, Europa Car, Hertz, Sol-Mar and Record Rent-a-Car.

Airport Parking

Parking is possible opposite the terminal, there are garages in the surrounding area of the airport, that are a cheaper option, most of these garages offer a free shuttle service to the airport.

Shops and Restaurants

Costa Blanca Plaza is the shopping and hospitality area of the airport. You can find eight cafes and four restaurants. There are also three Duty Free shops and a few very nice gift shops.

Baggage

Check your baggage thoroughly when it comes from the baggage band, the baggage handlers at Alicante Airport are not always benevolent. You can make complaints at the counter by the baggage belts. That is also the counter where you can claim misplaced baggage. You cannot store baggage at the airport.

Information

There is a general information counter by the check-in counters. There is also a counter in the Arrivals Hall, but this is only open when it is very busy. Tourist information is available at the Valencia Tourism Bureau on the ground floor.

Business

Alicante Airport has no conference facilities, for this you should go to Holiday Inn Alicante-Playa de San Juan, six kilometers from Alicante. There is an Ifach VIP-Lounge on the first level of the Departures Hall with telephone, fax and internet facilities, this lounge is only accessible for Business Class passengers.

Disabled Facilities

Disabled passengers can be dropped off right in front of the entrance of the terminal. Special parking places are also right by the entrance, and the airport has wheelchair ramps, adapted elevators, restrooms and exits. Wheelchairs are also available.

Other Services

You can find a pharmacy on the ground floor of the terminal, but the pharmacy is only open from 10:00–12:00 and from 16:00–20:00. There is a 24 hour First Aid post. There is a money exchange office on both the ground floor and the first level, there are also ATM’s. The airport police is available at.

Dubrovnik Cilipi Airport Guide

Dubrovnik-AirportDubrovnik’s international airport is one of Croatia’s most important airports. The airport is also called Cilipi, after its location. Dubrovnik is a popular tourist destination on the Adriatic coast. It has only one terminal and handles approximately one million passengers annually.

Local Transport
Train

There is no direct train connection from Dubrovnik Airport. The nearest railway station is in Plo?e, which is easily accessible by bus. For more information, please visit the Croatian Railways website.

Car and Bus

The airport is located on the E65, approximately 24 kilometers south east of the center of Dubrovnik.

There is an airport shuttle service (Atlas) between the airport and the Dubrovnik bus station. There is also a regular city bus  service to and from the airport. The bus is the cheapest way to get to the airport.

Parking at the airport

The airport has 200 parking spaces, both for short and long term parking. The first 15 minutes are free and after that the price is at most HRK 5.00 per 2 hours.

Birmingham Airport Guide

Birmingham-AirportBirmingham Airport is the fifth largest airport in Great Britain and processes approximately 10 million travelers per year. There are two terminals (1 and 2) that are joined together by the Millennium Link. This link is the service center of the airport.

Local Transport

Train

There is a free monorail connection (Air-Rail Link) with the train station from the airport, this Air-Rail leaves from the top floor of Terminal 1, travel time is 2 minutes. A lot of regional and intercity trains go to the station at the airport. There is, among others, a direct connection with London Euston. Car and bus

The airport is 13 kilometers east of the center of Birmingham, directly beside highway A45 near exit 6 on the highway M42 which connects to the M6. There is a separate M6 tollway that is much less busy than the normal M6. The airport is clearly indicated on the traffic signs.

A bus (line 900) leaves every 20 minutes to Digbeth bus station in Birmingham and then to the center of the city. There are also direct connections from the airport to other destinations in England, including, among others, the London airports Luton, Gatwick and Stansted.

The general information counter can be found in the Millennium Link between the terminals. There is also an information counter in the Departures Hall. British Airways has a separate customer counter in Terminal 2, and there is a tourist kiosk in Terminal 1 (Visitor Center).

Business

In the Departures Hall of Terminal 1 there are free work areas, however, you must pay for all facilities such as fax, telephone and email. There are offices and meeting rooms for 2-40 people.

Disabled facilities

The airport is very accessible for the disabled. There are adapted elevators, restrooms and telephones. At the service counter in Terminal 1 there are personnel who know sign language. In the short-term parking area and in the parking garage there are places reserved for the disabled but you must pay the regular price. Wheelchairs are available upon request as well as assistance at check-in, however, you must request this in advance through the general telephone number.

Other services

There are money exchange offices and ATM’s in both terminals, there is a post office located in Terminal 1. In the Millennium Link there is a multicultural prayer room.

Bristol Airport Guide

Bristol_airportBristol is situated in southwest England, near Wales. Bristol Airport handles approximately 5 million passengers on a yearly basis and is one of England´s fastest growing airports. During WWII Bristol Airport was the only English airport which handled commercial flights. At that time, the main destination was Portugal. Nowadays Bristol Airport offers about 90 destinations.

Local Transport

Train

The nearest railway station is Bristol Temple Meads. The station lies approximately 11 kilometers from the airport. The Airport Flyer express connects the airport directly to this station. The trip takes 30 minutes. Temple Meads station offers good connections to Southwest England, Wales and London.

Car and bus

The airport is situated on the A38, approximately 12 kilometers from downtown Bristol.

There is a direct bus service from the airport to Bristol. The airport also has an hourly local bus service to Weston-Super-Mare.

The Silver Zone Car Park for long term parking. The Premier Car Park is near the terminal. Meet and Greet and Rapid pick up are perfect for dropping off and picking up. Short Stay is for short term (to 24 hours).

Disabled passengers can be dropped off and picked up directly in front of the airport´s entrance. There are also especially reserved parking spaces. In addition to this the airport has wheelchair ramps, wheelchairs, signs in Braille and adapted elevators and toilets.
